Design Brief

Cool, Calm and Collected

The one bed apartment in a converted warehouse hit the mark in many ways- location, heritage and size, but the layout was a miss, and much of the buildings character was hidden away. the brief was to create a cool, calm and collected home- a sanctuary in the city.

The client chose the base unit which slots perfectly into the apartment’s exposed brickwork, establishing itself as the central focus and the true hub of the home. Beside it, a timber pod contains a compact kitchenette, uniting all the essential elements of daily life within the core of the living space. This thoughtful arrangement maximises the surrounding areas, maintaining an open, fluid environment. The client’s preference for minimal steel, concrete, exposed brick, and timber flooring creates a harmonious balance of raw textures and natural warmth, elevating the apartment’s industrial yet inviting aesthetic.
